The design history of Bungie.net
Warp 10 years ahead to present day.
Over the past many years Bungie.net has gone through extensive changes and updates. This page is an attempt to list some of the most prominent designs that have appeared in the past. Some of the information displayed here has been taken from the now removed Bungie Wiki utlizing a web archive. This record begins in 2004 due to web archiving limitations.
This term is a casual, Bungie Community-invented name that refers to the version of the Bungie.net site that existed from April 12, 2004 until March 20, 2007. It was termed the "New Hawtness" because it was a complete revamp of the Bungie.net site from the previous version, and many changes and updates were implemented in the site; some visible, some invisible.
The New Hawtness was an opportunity for Bungie to upgrade its website to take advantage of statistical reporting functions embedded in Halo 2, allowing Bungie.net to display a vast array of Halo 2 player statistics on the site.
Near the launch of Halo 3 Bungie.net was redesigned completely to allow for players to view their Halo 3 service record, game history, rankings, and community files/Bungie favorites. The dark version of the site was launched in 2008 with the header and footer of New Hawtness v2 being added in before the next update.
The New Hawtness v2 (sometimes called "The New New Hawtness") refers to this version of the Bungie.net site. Like the New Hawtness, the New Hawtness v2 is a complete upgrade of the Bungie.net site to implement several new features and take advantage of Halo 3's statistical reporting features. In 2010 the navigation header was modified.
This site is based on the design of New Hawtness v2.
Near Bungie Day 2011 the lower half of the homepage changed drastically to a more modular design. This design was only live for under a month.
This was the final Bungie.net design for the Halo era. This design is still present today on halo.bungie.net.
The first redesign of Bungie.net in preperation for Destiny and commonly refered to as Bungie.next. During this time forum titles were retired and replaced with a years registered counter.
